Space Invasion

This creative space invader cutting board came across my feed yesterday, courtesy of BoingBoing:
Space Invaders Cutting Board, by Cameron Oehler

That's some pretty sweet inspiration for my next woodworking project. Woodworking aside, I do loves me some Space Invaders.

As a pre-teen boy in the late 70s, Space Invaders was surpassed in coolness only by Star Wars. When we got our Atari 2600, Space Invaders was my favorite game, on heavy rotation (and you know I used the cheat to get extra shots).

I had a sweet Space Invaders t-shirt back then that featured a white-on-black screen shot of the game. These days I have three Space Invader shirts -- two from Cyberdog and one from David & Goliath. We have Blik Invaders on the wall in our living room, and now I have my eye on a Space Invaders LED doormat.

I'm starting to think that I have a serious Space Invaders problem. If you're looking for your own invasion-fighting fix, you can play Space Invaders online. Or, you can enjoy this rendition of human Space Invaders:
