Wising up for the holidaze

That's right, kids, it's Christmahanakwanzaka season again! I'm getting in the spirit by reading "The Stupidest Angel" by Christopher Moore, who was recently a guest blogger at Powells.com. He's incredibly funny; perhaps the love child of Douglas Adams and Kurt Vonnegut. On second thought, don't think about that too much. Just read some of his work and then buy all of it. Personally, I started with his first ("Practical Demonkeeping") and just kept going from there, but if you want to start with the bestsellers, check out "Lamb" and "Fluke."

Another way to wise up is to visit a Science Cafe in your area. Wired ran an interesting article about them, and while I haven't been to the local Silicon Valley Cafe Scientifique, I'm looking forward to going to one soon. It reminds me a lot of the PARC Forum, which I have been to and found both educational and entertaining.

If you're looking for wisdom on how to understand nerds, here's an excellent Nerd Handbook. It's like an owner's manual to help with the care and feeding of the nerd in your life. Amusing read if you or someone you know is a giant nerd. (I'm guessing that you probably do, since you're reading gonutty.com.)

Now that you have all this new-found wisdom, why not test your memory skills against a chimp? If you can't beat him, don't feel bad. Maybe you just need a tutor....
