It's Halloween, but sadly I don't have a big collection of spooky links. Instead, I have a bunch of stuff gathering cobwebs on my desktop. I'll leave it to you to decide whether they're tricks or treats...
Earthquake!
The earth moved this evening here in Palo Alto, thanks to the Calaveras Fault. It was the second-biggest quake that I've experienced, behind the 1989 Loma Prieta 7.0 quake and just ahead of the 2006 Kona 5.0 aftershock quake on Thanksgiving day. Truth be told, the only one that was scary was the Kona one, since the epicenter was really close, and the initial bang was huge.

Is the Bush administration totally clueless about their total failure, or do they realize it and just keep up a strong face in some twisted attempt to try to save face? Either way, I have zero respect for them. Can't we institute some sort of mercy rule for the president? Gray Davis got recalled, why can't Dubya?
