There was a huge party in N'Awlins on Monday night, as the Saints played their first game back in the Superdome since Katrina (actually, since before Katrina, since the 'Dome was falling apart even before that).
Filled with emotion, the Saints trounced the Atlanta Falcons 23-3. The Falcons were three-and-out on their first series, then the Saints blocked their punt and recovered it for a touchdown. The Falcons followed up with a Morten Andersen field goal (ironically, he's the Saints' all-time leading scorer) with 9:41 left in the first quarter, which would be the Falcons' only score. Most of the action was in the first half, with the Saints leading 20-3 at halftime.
Good stuff.
The cynical part of the story here is where I wonder why Joe Theismann is in the Monday Night Football booth. He just isn't entertaining, except when Tony Kornheiser makes fun of him.
