Putting the mock back in democracy
While shopping the local Target for baby stuff, I happened to spy The War on Errorism, the latest album from NOFX. Being a big fan of Fat Wreck Chords in general and NOFX in particular, I purchased the last CD on the shelf and have played the crap out of it over the past week. It is sarcastic punk at its best, serving as excellent cultural counterpoint to the ridiculous deluge of mindlessly "patriotic" country music that has flooded our nation's airwaves over the past few months.
Not just content to mock the current administration, Punk Voter is dedicated to making a difference in future elections by educating and mobilizing punks. Yeah, that's right... anarchy is cool and all, but you have to vote if you want to have your say about who lives in the White House.
Not content to let NOFX have all the fun, Radiohead will release Hail to the Thief on June 9th. Not surprisingly, Moby approves.
In related news, happy tax break, everyone! Not that I don't appreciate the extra bucks in my pocket, but seriously, I think the Reagan/Bush economic posse really needs to attend some deficit spenders anonymous meetings.
