N degrees of separation

"So there I was..." just reading through some of my favorite blogs. German Fool Oliver had a post about Fast Company's "Fast 50" - 50 ways to move business forward. I scanned the list to see what they had to say and who they put forth as "Fast." Near the end of the list, I spotted "Let the Advergames Begin" about Peter Mack from Templar Studios. Peter and I were pals at Simon's Rock in the late 80s, so I kept reading.

It turns out that Peter's company built the excellent BIONICLE - Mata Nui game for Lego. My good friend Tracy Sigler recommended that game back in 2001 when it first came out. I played it on my own for a while and also used it while babysitting Tracy's son Mars. It was great fun, but more to the point of this post, it's strange how so many little life nodes all linked together coincidentally on the web.

It reminds me of a New York Times Magazine story about coincidence entitled, "The Odds of That." Interestingly, that story was handed to us by my wife's Google co-worker Daniel, whom we just happened to run into in Dallas-Ft. Worth airport last year. (We had missed our originally scheduled flight home from Detroit and ended up getting routed through DFW instead of St. Louis.

What are the odds, indeed.
