Free at last, free at last....

I'm glad that MLK, Jr. gets his own day, because he was one smooth dude. The whole civil rights movement was an idea whose time had come, but it was largely King's eloquence that carried the message and the movement into the mainstream. We should always remember, so that we don't forget. (If MLK is eloquent, I must be uneloquent.)

Anyway, if you're in the SF Bay Area, there's a great MLK memorial in Yerba Buena Gardens. It reminds me of the FDR memorial in DC, another one of my favorites, which also features waterfalls and inspiring inscriptions. Both of those two gentlemen lead our country through some very difficult times. It makes me wonder who we'll look back on as the eloquent voices of this generation. I have some good ideas of who won't, but who will is still something of a mystery.
