Interesting story in Slate entitled Should We Invade Syria? It reviews Tom DeLay's recent arguments for why we should go to war with Iraq. Lending some interesting perspective to the debate, the story looks at what other countries are also guilty of the types of activities that DeLay uses to press his case. The point of the story is that rather than taking every possible military action on a case-by-case basis, we should develop a clear doctrine about what's acceptable and what's not, and then react consistently.
I propose either the Prisoner's Dilemma Doctrine or the Who's Your Daddy Doctrine. You're either with me or you're against me. Or maybe you just have a slightly different view. Or maybe you think my view is stupid, but you're not so bad overall. Or maybe....
