Y'all know that I'm a huge fan of the First Amendment, and I wouldn't dream of suggesting that journalists and media outlets shouldn't have the freedom to publish whatever they want. That said, I do wish that more of them would voluntarily refrain from producing stuff that will help terrorists without providing any benefit other than ratings or readership. Dennis Pluchinsky, senior intelligence analyst with the Diplomatic Security Service in the U.S. Department of State, accuses the media of treason in this Washington Post opinion. I can't say that I disagree with him, though as he admits himself, treason might be a bit too strong. Self-involved, short-sighted boneheads might be more accurate.
I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. -- Voltaire
Of course, that does have its limits.
