Last week, I made some NCAA upset predictions. In the interest of accountability, please allow me to point out that I went a pretty miserable 3-for-8. In my defense, two of those teams are still alive (Missouri and Kent State).
Of course, my true interest in the tournament lies with my beloved UConn Huskies. Their next opponents, on Friday, are the Southern Illinois Salukis, this year's big cinderella story. Of course, this begs the question, "What the hell is a Saluki?" According to the school's explanation: "Known for their speed and hunting skills, Salukis are the oldest pure-breed dogs in the world with records dating back to 3600 B.C." They also provide a bunch of history that helps to fill in some other blanks created by the simple answer, and also recounts a famous query about Salukis.
