FRIGORIFIC!!!

frigorific • \frih-guh-RIH-fik\ • (adjective)
: causing cold : chilling

Brought to you be the letters B and R, the number 0, and Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day.

I really dig on the M-W Word of the Day, which they will email to you for free. Other recent WOTD gems include: majuscule, neoteric, and haruspex.

Dictionary.com's Word of the Day feature is also quite good, and also available by email. Today's is fugacious.

While we're on the topic of interesting words, I stumbled across idiolect in the dictionary the other day:

idiolect • (noun)
: the language or speech pattern of one individual at a particular period of life

Finally, I couldn't post about vocabulary expansion without mentioning Rageboy. He peppers his spicy prose with an impressive array of sixty-four dollar words.

Why is it that big words are worth sixty-four dollars? How much are little words worth? I wanna know. Also, I wanna know why I've slipped into Jerry Seinfeld's idiolect. (The world may never know.)
